Highly accurate precision scale for the perfect recipe every time ...
I've used a few Smart Weigh scales before, but never a kitchen one. The ones I've used have been highly accurate whether they are for weighing gold or veggies. Keep in mind that when you are weighing food and use a bowl, there is a tare that can be utilized. One of the easiest ways to use it, is to put your bowl or other container on first prior to weighing anything and the scale will automatically deduct the weight each time.

Another way to do it is to put that bowl or container on the scale, tap the tare button and it will automatically be subtracted when you add your food. This way you will get your true weight. No need to mess up your scale. You can either use a bowl or a piece of wax paper. This will even work well if you are measuring things such as flour. Why measure in weights? Why not?

If you are using cups of flour, for example, the weight of each cup may differ. Perhaps you packed one down more tightly than the previous one. This ensures that if you have the "perfect" recipe, it will be perfect each and every time you make it. Weights, of course, can be essential if you are on a diet or have special needs. The accuracy of Smart Weigh scales do impress me.

FEATURES:

- Features a built-in time so this scale will become your favorite measuring device
- Stark contrast blue backlit LCD display features easy touch buttons
- High quality stainless steel design with fingerprint resistant coating
- Creative design allows scale to be mounted to the wall for easy storage and access
- Precision sensor ensure accurate and consistent weight sessions

Convenient, easy to use scale for the kitchen.
The Smart Weigh scale came conveniently packed for me to review in an easy to open box. Three triple A batteries were included in the package. We immediately installed the batteries and placed the scale on a hard, flat surface, as directed in the clear and concise directions that come with the scale. The scale will weigh up to eleven pounds safely. More weight than that may damage the scale. The scale is a thin, 9.5x5.75 inch silver and black machine.

We turned on the machine, the display came to zero, and we placed a ten pound dumbbell on the scale. The dumbbell weighed ten pounds four ounces. Next we placed a ten ounce bag of cranberries on the scale. The weight was 10.4 ounces - .4 ounces for the packaging material. Next a twenty ounce bag of cherries was placed on the scale and the weight of the cherries was 20.3 ounces. It appears as if the scale is accurate, but my guess is that some buyers of this product may wish to do their own calibration. Directions for doing so are given in the user's manual.

The scale has something called a tare feature which allows the user to first weigh the empty cup being used to hold material to be weighed. The cup is weighed and the scale resets to zero and then the true weight of the material in the cup can be determined without any arithmetic calculation. Also, the scale comes with an easy to use timer. Set the amount of time desired and the scale will beep when the time is up. The scale measures in ounces, grams, milliliters, and fluid ounces. It takes only a moment to set the scale to the desired unit of measure.

All-around excellent kitchen tool. Great design, easy to use, and accurate measurement
I reviewed three scales side-by-side, including this one. I’ll list the scales below with the pros and cons of each and compare them. To test them, I used a variety of pre-marked or known weight objects so that I knew the accuracy of the scale. All of them were spot-on accurate and easy to operate.

PL11B – Glass-top Scale

Like a miniature version of the butcher shop/candy store scale. Professional looking and easy-to-clean surface. Unlike the other models, this has a “floating” platform to weigh food (the other models have four springy legs). The battery is a CR2032, which lasts a while, but may not be household-ready to replace. Of the three, I like the platform feel and the sleek surface of this model.

TZ5000 – Stainless Steel

Nice and wide and very modern looking. The LCD screen lights up for easy-to-see use. Easy to clean, but the stainless steel does show fingerprints more than the glass. Supported by four springy legs for accurate measuring and uses the CR2032 battery, too. Thin enough to slide into a drawer, but sharp looking enough to leave countertop.

SNT100 – Thin stainless steel with timer

This model has the average American household in mind. Skinny width and think depth make this easy to store anywhere, plus the design gives it a hole to hang if, if wanted. Two extra buttons included for the timer, which is a nice plus. Has a speaker underneath and is loud enough to alert you for your next cooking step. Also supported by four springy legs for accurate measuring. This uses AAA batteries, which may not last as long as the flat circle batteries, but may be more readily available. Stainless steel top is not as wide as the other models and shows fingerprints, but is still easy to clean and easy to store.

Of the three models, my favorite is the professional feeling glass-top model, but that’s purely a personal preference. As mentioned earlier, all three are excellent, easy to use, and provide accurate measurements.

Thanks to Smart Weigh for providing these scales for my review. I would easily recommend any and would see myself buying them as a consumer.
